UPPER BERTH

Image
Just after the exams got over, we got a winter break    for a month so most of the students decided to visit their hometown. I was also one of them. After putting so much effort, my roommate managed to book a ticket for me. Being a disciplined but oblivious sucker, I packed all my stuff and reached the station by four in the evening as my train was at seven in the night. The deadly winter was also responsible for me arriving so early. I struggled for few minutes to find my seat but finally found that.   The ticket was of upper berth and what could have been better than that for a college student like me.   The seat number was U-45.            Without any due, I placed my suitcase below the lower berth and keeping the handbag with myself, I climbed up to my berth. Bye the way, upper berth has its own advantages. It gives not only the comfort to us but also boosts our love towards being lonely or may be, solitude in some cases.     Because of not having  sleep a

JAB WE METRO-2

Soon after getting her cell no. and doing shopping, I returned back to my place. I was constantly thinking about her throughout the journey. I used to live with an old friend of mine that time, who used to preach me everyday about my failures. We were not sharing good bonding those days so I decided not to tell him anything.                                          After having dinner together, It took just half an hour for me to vomit all of what happened in the metro that day, in front of him. His preaching started again and few moments later, I realized that he was more excited than I was.  He started teaching me- “  How I should have approached her in the train. How can I impress her now after meeting her. Pyaar Vyaar kuchh nahi hota hai . It ’s just lust. I want to make love with you is always hidden in I love you….Huh.”  He had not finished yet. “ Sun, don’t try to impress a girl, she will surely understand ki tu ‘sex ka bhookha hai’. But haan agar wo kuchh der aur

Coffee........?

March 2018: It was a time when I was living a simple life in a budget equivalent to that of defence sector of our country. Where the fuck was all the money going, I still don’t know. I was not able to get even my regular ~ daily coffee. Mediocrity was at its peak. To give myself relief, I decided to visit a nearby beach with whatever little money I had. After walking 4 kilometers to get the bus, I reached the beach by 5 in the dusk. By the way, when you travel alone having few bucks, there is one thing common in everyone……You look merely confident, also you aren’t scared of trying something new…Reason is, No one will be there to remind you for that shit after that. Beach was as crowded as it used to be. Observing the crowd and being among them reminded me of my own mediocrity, which I hate being a native of. In short, LEKHAK ye kehna chaahte hain ki mai aam aadmi waali zindagi nahi jeena chaahta. You can confirm the irony - why I came here? I decided to go &

JAB WE METro

The day I met her was just like another sunday for me in the town I was hating as well as living in. Entering into the metro station slapped me with the same mediocre faces on the momos' stalls, but to cope with the heat in the city, I planned to travel in the metro. Within billions of nanoseconds, i was on the platform. I t ook out the water bottle from my bag but before I could start drinking, the train arrived. Due to the sunday jinx, very few people were inside as well as outside the train. Overthinking was about to hit me but just before the gates could close, I boarded into the train. Metro on sunday is a dream! I was not getting crushed by heavy feet anymore, neither the bag was getting pulled away nor I had to smell stinky aunties. Yes, aunties stink the most. Oh! Thank God, it was sunday. Really! The train was  moving like a balloon flying with sparkled rice  kept inside it. Of course, helium would be there too. I preffered to remain standing. Not really. But y

It’s 2 o'clock in the night............The society is as sleepy as it used to be, grasshoppers and crickets are making sound somewhere in distance but there is a soul still in insomnia. A race with the sleep which he has conquered the whole life is now somehow defeating him.  He shuffled himself across the bed but sleep seems miles away, birds started chirping outside and now it’s already 4 in the morning. Ritwik Pandey, a descent bihari boy, who came to a college in Mumbai with a dream, four years ago. Now, he is in his final year of engineering, who always has an image of genius student during his academics years. The big day – which he was waiting for his entire life, finally came, his first job interview, was not letting him sleep today.                                               He goes to bathroom in a hurry to get refreshed. Now it’s   6. He puts on the watch, takes all the documents. He tries to look confident but couldn’t hide his nervousness too. But as us

Sitting down the stairs, I was teaching the basics of Acting to my new students. Everyone was listening to every single word that came out of my mouth as if they were ‘Brahmastra‘ to them.  ‘May I come in ? Gaurav, my assistant, was at the door. I asked ‘ Aao aao, kya huaa? ’.   He said ‘sir, ek ladki ka phone aaya tha ’.  Students being more excited than me, one started with “Oho” .Rest of the students made it  'ohoooooo.'                                                         I mildly scolded them saying ‘ arey chup raho yaar ’. I told Gaurav, ‘okay you may go, I’ll talk to her later’. ‘It was urgent sir, she was asking again and again to talk to you’. Students had their same ‘ ohhooo ’. This is the very first class of these students yaar, I can’t go. Students shouted in unity ‘arey jao sir, we will manage. Gaurav went but  returned back to me after few moments and said 'one more thing, sir, she also sa
